Kabir Khan’s next project is the sports drama ‘83’ on legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev starring Ranvir Singh and Deepika Padukone. So, when I see wrong politics being highlighted (in films), it really makes me angry,” the director added further. “I can forgive bad writing, shoddy camera work, you know, sloppy editing, but I can never forgive bad politics because mainstream media films are a very powerful platform and they can really influence a lot of people. “I would not make compromises, I would never make compromises on my ideology, or rather not do that story, then make compromises on ideology,” asserted Kabir. “Politics is the way we see anything in this world, the way we look at women is our politics, the way we look at minorities is politics, the way we look at people living on the fringes of society is politics, the way we look at the people in power is politics which has to come through,” said Kabir when asked if he would make a film like his debut film Kabul Express (2006) in today’s time. Kabir further spoke about how ‘ wrong politics‘ can influence the masses as mainstream movies have a great influence over people. Hailing Mughals was not where the film director stopped at. Rasheeduddin Khan was reportedly a favourite of Indira Gandhi and was one of the founding members of JNU. His father Rasheeduddin Khan was a nephew of former President Dr Zakir Hussain. Kabir Khan is the director of movies like Bajrangi Bhaijan and New York. Trying to fit them into preconceived stereotypes, is distressing,” ranted Kabir.

“It’s the easiest thing today, demonizing the Mughals and various other Muslim rulers. Justifying his bizarre take on ‘Hail Mughals,’ Kabir alleged that it is fashionable to demonize the Mughals and that it has nothing to do with history. Please have an open debate, just don’t go with the narrative that you think will be popular.” I think they were the original nation-builders and to write them off and say they murdered people? Please point out the historical evidence. We always knew this would be a challenging shoot, but the cast and crew despite sub zero temperatures and 18 hour days managed to stay the course and the results are spectacular,” says Amar Butala, co-producer and COO of Salman Khan Films.Continuing his long rant, Kabir further said, “If you do some research and read history, it’s very tough to understand why they have to be villainized. Kabir has shot an incredible climax with Salman and Kareena packed with action and strong emotions. We shot the climax in the heart of Kashmir surrounded by snow clad mountains, the sheer scale at which it is shot is overwhelming. To add to their woes was the sub zero temperatures and hail storms that would interrupt the shoot.” Transporting them in hundreds of buses and then embarking on the hour long trek was a huge logistical challenge for the production. Added to this were the 7000 extras that we had on set every day. Located at 10 thousand feet above sea level… the 300 strong technical crew had to trek for an hour through snow every morning to reach the location. Kabir Khan shares, “The BB climax was shot at the base of the Thajwas glacier outside Sonamarg. Some of the bit from the Kashmir shoot has been revealed in the trailer which has got raving response from the audience. With Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kabir and Salman will be revealing the sides of Kashmir which no one has ever seen before. The entire team would trek for more than an hour to reach the desired locations. It was one of the most thrilling experiences for the entire team.

The film was largely shot in Pahalgam, Chandanwadi, Sonmarg, Aru, and small towns near these places. He hunted for the unexplored location in Kashmir with beautiful surroundings. Kabir was keen on shooting this sequence in only a select special location and he himself handpicked each one of them. The makers had to shoot some of the most crucial scenes there. The maker’s team had an extensive shoot of 45 days in some of the most beautiful spots in Kashmir. Salman and director Kabir Khan shot the most spectacular and grandest chase sequences in Kashmir. While everyone has made a love story in Kashmir, Salman Khan will be seen doing integral action sequences in Kashmir for his upcoming film Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

But Salman Khan always thinks hatke and adds his style to his films. Kashmir known for its beauty, weather and the aura of love have been explored by a lot of films to recreate romance for the big screen.
